Brot und Spiel Trier

For our first outing here in our new home we went to the Brot und Spiel. It was a Roman Fest in Trier. A stones throw from the Luxemborg border. The whole city was one of the biggest Roman settlements and the fest was held at the ruins of a Roman Bath house and Colleseum. It was amazing to see and stand amoungst the ruins where the romans lived and died. We wandered among the fest grounds hitting the practice field and the market. Right at the base of the ruins was a bier garten set up and we had lunch and some wine and beer for Greg and I and drinks for the kids. Later in the evening we went to a fire show about the ancients and though it was all in German we got the general story line from the play. We learned the thumbs up thumbs down saying and how to greet the emperor and got to participate in that after each fighting match. It was alot of fun and deffinately a city we want to go back to when the fest isnt going on to see more sights. Trier is in the heart of the Mosel valley and I want to hit the wine region and vineyards that we could see from the fest grounds.
Hope you all enjoy the pics
Hugs
Jenny
